![]() long and is the closest to both Rangeley and Oquossoc. A shuttle is required. Take take Route 16 West and travel 1.3 miles to the Kennebago River Road on the right. Go 2 miles on this gravel road to "Steep Bank Pool" on the left. Park on the right side of road. A path for launching is located at this point. There is a ledge around the first bend, which should be approached to determine whether to run it on the left side or on the right side. Depending upon the water conditions and their skill level, paddlers may have to carry over at this point. Past this spot, it's flat water to the Route 16 bridge. Take out on the east bank immediately after the bridge. For shuttles go back to Route 16 and turn right. Proceed .10 miles and park on the left side before the bridge. MAGALLOWAY RIVER: This 5.5-mile paddle takes approximately 3 hours and requires a vehicle shuttle. Travel west on Route 16 to Wilson's Mills. As you approach the bridge in Wilson's Mills, make a right on Bennett Road. The launching point is immediately on the left. The water flat but the current is fast at the beginning of the trip. For shuttles take a vehicle to the only bridge at theRoute 16/Maine-New Hampshire border. Take out at bridge. Be careful as it is quite steep.
